The Kingdom Key of the Realm of Light

Keyblades are a special kind of weapon made to harness the power of Kingdom Hearts. They have a sort of mind of their own, choosing their wielders and changing their minds if their hearts are corrupted or altered. Not much is known about the origin of keyblades, but they are directly connected to Kingdom Hearts. They have the power to open or close any lock (including the hearts of worlds and sometimes even people), and return hearts to Kingdom Hearts.

The Kingdom Key of the Realm of Darkness

Keyblades all fit into one of three realms: the realm of Light, the realm of Darkness, or the realm of In-Between. Each of these realms has a designated "Kingdom Key." The key for the realm of Light is dubbed simply as the Kingdom Key. The key for the realm of Darkness is known as the Kingdom Key D. The key for the realm of In-Between is currently unknown.

Different forms of the Kingdom Key

While keyblades remain the same weapon, they can take different forms with key chains. These give keyblades special power boosts and abilities as well as change their physical form, adding to their natural magic and physical attack power.

Keyblades may disappear and reappear at their own or their wielders' will, their energy returning to the realm of their origins. When summoned, every keyblade and form has its own visual flair, adding to their uniqueness.
